frequently asked questions
How do I get started?
Please get in touch to schedule your complementary 15-minute phone consultation. I will answer any questions you have and get some information from you to see if I might be a good fit. Then, we'll meet for a 60 minute intake assessment. I'll gather information about your mental health history, current symptoms and goals for therapy. Over the next few sessions, we'll continue to get to know each other, create your individualized treatment plan and start tackling your goals!
How long does therapy take?
Many cognitive behavioral and parent therapies can be completed in 12-20 sessions. However, more intensive treatments (such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy) require a minimum commitment of 6-12 months. Following completion of treatment, many patients select to schedule "booster" sessions, to check in and review the strategies they've learned.
How will I know if therapy is working?
At the start of treatment we will create observable, measurable goals, which we will monitor throughout your treatment. I will provide you with evidence-based assessments, which will provide data regarding your symptom severity over time.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance, and I am an out-of-network (OON) provider. I provide all patients with monthly Superbills, which can be submitted to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Please contact your health insurance and ask if they provide reimbursement for therapy (or behavioral health) with OON providers. Your insurance may require a prior authorization process and have limits on reimbursement (e.g. only covering a certain number of sessions per year, requiring you to meet a deductible, or only reimburse for certain diagnoses or specific services). Patients are required to keep a credit card on file which will be charged following each session.
Please note that I have a 24-hour cancellation/rescheduling policy. If you cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment, you will be charged the full session fee.
Where are you located?
I am located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, at 7 West 86th St (conveniently accessible by the B, C, and 1 trains and the M86 bus) and in Short Hills, NJ. Additionally, I provide telethealth to residents of AL, AZ, AR, CO, CT, DE, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NE, NV, NH, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, and WY.
What can I expect for the total cost of my therapy?
The cost of treatment will depend on the type of treatment that I recommend as well as your preferences for treatment. Please contact me to discuss fees.
